Interesting Flick

Just saw The History of Violence. Compelling, but I'm not sure it worked for me emotionally. The performances were stellar, and it certainly raised compelling questions about the nature of violence; of human emotions; of the relationship of violence to sex; and much more. Yet too many times I was jarred out of the ride. And perhaps that was the point. Someone said it was mythic, and in one sense it is. Yet I prefer my film with more true emotion and less intellectual question-asking. Certainly it's worth a look. Even two looks.
